Product Description

89 Points - "A textbook version, with a briary, lightly chewy edge to the steeped plum, blackberry and anise notes, giving way to a tarry spine on the finish. Should mellow nicely with modest cellaring. Drink now through 2018. 3,330 cases made." - JM (Wine Spectator, web only 2015)

The wines from this appellation take their name from the deep river gravels that cover the entire plateau. The Château du Seuil Graves red wine is made from a blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 45% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc. The different varieties are fermented individually in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures, then pressed and passed into barrels to undertake malolactic fermentation. The resulting wine is fruity and well balanced with integrated oak flavors and firm round tannins. Additionally, in recent years the wine has developed the peppery characteristics of a classic Graves red. The finished wine is aged in oak for up to 18 month prior to bottling. The wine is crafted with 100% new French oak reflecting the depth, concentration and power of the fruit. It is pleasing on the palate, fresh and have a complex aftertaste. Delicious to drink now but can be stored for up to 10 years.
