"2014 Riesling M-C starts very clear, spicy and fresh on the nose, showing good ripeness and intensity. Round and full on the palate, with a nice grip and stimulating salinity, this is a mouth-filling and finely racy Estate Riesling already with a lot of character. Good length, serious wine. Grapes are sourced from younger vines on gravelly soils in and around of the village of Haardt. The vineyards were pre-selected twice." - Stephan Reinhardt (Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, Dec 2015)
Family owned since 1774 with 9 generations tending the vines, the winery is now run by Philipp David Catoir. Müller-Catoir was a pioneer of reductive winemaking in Germany. The estate implements a gentle crush, a long skin contact, slow gentle pressing, and then ferments at warmer than customary fermentation temperatures in stainless steel. The wine is racked only once and very late. Müller-Catoir produces wines of outstanding transparency and density, and remains emblematic of Riesling at its most sophisticated.
"This is a Feinherb bottling custom-made for me. And it is perfect Riesling. Stupidly salty. Wonderfully long. Riper and nubbier (phenolically) than the ’14 but otherwise, you literally can’t not love it." - Terry Theise
